The Master's program in Counseling is a terminal Masters of Science (M.S.) degree.
Master's applications are due January 5th.
Please note that beginning Fall, 2015 the Masters curriculum has been revised to be a 60 credit program designed to satisfy the State of Wisconsin licensure requirements that will take effect in 2018. We will no longer be offering the 48 credit Masters program and newly enrolled students are expected to complete the new 60 credit curriculum. Students should expect to take two full academic years and parts of two summers to complete all the coursework and most of the required internship hours.

The practicum and internship courses (CP 806 and CP 808) provide students the opportunity to develop their skills in group counseling, consultation, group instruction, individual counseling and program management. Placement into Internship settings for 808 are facilitated through the Department to maximize your learning experience and to insure proper on-site supervision.
In addition to courses and internship, each student must complete the Professional Integration Exercise (PIE), which is a capstone experience for each master’s student, where they have the opportunity to pull together their learning and skills and their overall professional identity. Through this oral clinical case conceptualization, they have the opportunity to demonstrate to the faculty their readiness as a master’s level clinician. The PIE is intended to prepare students for employment interviews, which often entail the discussion of a clinical case.
